Ionian Islands Cottages

Self catering holidays in Ionian Islands

We regret that we do not appear to have any available holiday cottages in Ionian Islands at present.

May we suggest perusing alternative holiday lettings in Greece?

We recommend that you try our advanced Cottage Search facility to enter your essential information such as maximum number of guests, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms and so on. This will display a selection of possible holiday homes. Next, refine the list by adding any other factors that might be of secondary importance such as setting or barbecue.

The Greek Ionian islands are located off the West coast of Greece and are dotted from the west mainland all the way down to past the Peloponnese.Of these islands, the largest is Kefalonia, also known as Cephalonia.  Kefalonia is known for being a lush green island surrounded by beautiful blue sea.  Also popular for summer sun holidays is Zante (also known as Zakynthos).  Like, Kefalonia, Zakynthos is green and blessed with many forests and olive groves.  Zakynthos is famous for its associated with sea turtles or ‘caretta caretta’ as they are known in Greek.  Logger head and other turtles nest in Zakynthos every year.  There are trusts and other organisations that work to help with the conservation of these amazing creatures.

Corfu is a relatively large Greek island which attracts many people for summer holidays. Corfu town itself is surprisingly quite charming.  There is a fortress from which you can enjoy wonderful views of the town below.  There are charming squares and plenty of attractive places to sit and enjoy a wine or a coffee.   There also many opportunities for buying souvenirs.  Corfu town is a surprisingly nice place to spend some time.  Staying in a self catering villa can be an attractive option for a self catering holiday in Corfu.  You may be able to find a villa with a pool or somewhere out in the country which can be really lovely if you are looking for a quiet peaceful self catering break.  Although quite a large island, much of Corfu is still unspoilt and if you have use of a car it is possible to find many quiet spots on Corfu.

When visiting any of these islands don’t miss the chance to take a boat trip.  There are various boat trip options.  Some are obviously ‘party’ type trips where you are likely to come across a lot of drunk Brits so do take care in finding the right boat trip for you.  If you take an early morning boat trip you may be lucky enough to see dolphins in the waters around the Greek islands.

There are also a number of other less well known Ionian islands including Paxos, Lefkas, Ithaca and Kythira.
