Or walk over Ladies Bridge and enjoy trekking along Cruden Bay beach which is a long stretch of golden sandy beach with sand dunes. The walk up to Slains castle is a longer one through woods and is only recommended in good weather. In bad weather the paths can become slippery.
When holidaying in Cruden Bay, don’t miss Slains Castle. This spectacular ruined castle is perched precariously on a cliff edge and is rumoured locally to have inspired Bram Stoker’s book Dracula. Bram Stoker visited the village and stayed in the hotel. Take care when following the path up to the castle and when you reach the castle be aware that there are no barriers and steep drops. Many a dog and some children have fallen to their death at the castle so safety is key, dogs must be kept on a lead and it is not advisable to take small children here. All children must be properly supervised at all times for safety reasons. With the health and safety points covered, this is a spectacular place to visit with amazing views. Listen to the waves crash against the cliffs and enjoy sharing this spot with the seagulls.
