The town of Wirksworth lies due south of Matlock in Derbyshire. It is a town typical of the area that consists predominantly of red brick properties plus a few stone-built properties in the town centre. The houses and cottages that line the roads in the centre tend to be built up to the pavement, very few have front gardens and those that had them have converted them into car parking places. This situation fortunately changes away from the centre and houses stand further back from the road and a stone wall separates the garden from the street.
Wirksworth is another popular place to stay for holidays near the Peak District. The B5023 road leads directly from the town and into the Peak District a couple of miles north west. Self-catering holidaymakers have shops and amenities on their doorstep and easy access to the national park and the best of Derbyshire. There are quite a few points of interest in and around Wirksworth itself; the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, a Heritage Centre plus a swimming pool, leisure facilities, cinema and plenty of eateries.
Rent a holiday home in Wirksworth if you like a varied holiday in Derbyshire, a bit of countryside, some events and sightseeing. Each holiday home is very well equipped for a self-catered break and each offers comfortable accommodation. Almost every property has Internet, other facilities will vary. There are luxurious holiday homes which provide pampering facilities in the form of hot tubs and saunas. A few are dog-friendly.
