Melksham is an attractive small market town set on the banks of the River Avon in Wiltshire, England.  Melksham has a number of grand appealing Regency buildings which date back to the days when the aim was to establish Melksham as a spa town like the handsome towns of Harrogate and Bath.  Although springs were established in Melksham, the town never reached the popularity of nearby Bath.  Melksham does though still have a number of historical spa related buildings and also a number of attractive town houses and other buildings which were built from the wealth of the wool trade.  Melksham is an appealing town for a self-catering cottage holiday in Wiltshire.

Melksham is well located for visiting the renowned Cotswolds countryside and towns.  Melksham is just 30 miles from Cirencester in the Cotswolds.  The town is also just 13 miles from the city of Bath with its array of attractions including the Roman Baths and Pump Rooms in the city centre.

Melksham itself has a lively collection of pubs, all offering atmosphere and sometimes even live music which can be great news to tourists on a self-catered holiday looking for a sociable evening out or even a pub lunch.

The town also hosts its own ‘Party in the Park’ which consists of amusement rides, fireworks displays, music and dance acts, carnival parades, and much more.  This festival is usually held at the end of July each year.
