Holiday cottage rentals in Worthing

Cottages, houses and pine lodges in Norfolk, near Worthing, can be booked for a week at a time or for short breaks of three days or more when children are not on holiday. Family groups tend to favour self-catering cottage breaks which pushes up demand for complete weeks and leaves little option for 3-night short breaks.

It is easy to see why self-caterig holidays are popular with families. Some families want to have accommodation with swimming pools and hot tubs, and plenty of the cottages are baby and dog friendly, which suits their requirements. Lots of these cottages and lodges are dotted along the coastline, but plenty are snuggled in the middle of a village where you might start to feel like a local. If you are coming to Norfolk on a self-catering break and are unsure of just where to reside, then the small village of Worthing might suit you if you prefer tranquillity and to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Stay in the heart of Norfolk

Worthing lies in the heart of Norfolk, north of the city of Norwich, and is a hamlet that consists of just a few country roads where red brick properties stand apart from each other.  Some people might find it interesting to discover the round-tower church of St. Margaret which is slightly unusual; there aren't very many with round towers in East Anglia. The village is largely residential with not very many amenities, so it is more for those who are really looking for some peace and quiet, going on country walks and spending some quality time with those nearest and dearest to you. It is a good place to find a cottage that has a large garden because most of the properties have generous plots.

Child-friendly holiday homes

Look for holiday cottages that state that they are child-friendly if you plan to come and stay with children. Most often, this means that a cot, highchair and similar baby equipment is available on request. The extremely child-friendly properties may provide toys, play equipment, babysitting and a great deal more.

A spot of fishing may be on the cards

The hamlet of Worthing stands on the banks of the River Wensum, close to Billingford Fishing Lakes. A few relaxed hours here could be a real treat for the right person. It would be ideal to find a holiday cottage within walking distance of the Lakes and be able to pop back for lunch.

Out and about from Worthing during your holiday

Staying in mid Norfolk, opens the county up for days out in all directions. You might want to take some day trips to see more of what Norfolk has to offer, and there are plenty to be had from Worthing. The village has a railway station so if you don’t drive, you can take the train to a few places, but if you have a car then you can visit anywhere in the vicinity quite easily.

One place just a twenty-minute drive from the village is the market town of Fakenham. This charming town can be found in scenic surroundings on the River Wensum and is the largest in north Norfolk. There is a vibrant atmosphere in the centre, and it is surrounded by stunning countryside which is perfect to explore on country walks and cycles. There are also several places to eat and drink here.

If you wish to head to the beach for the day from Worthing, then the northern coast is about 45 minutes away by car. The busy resorts of Cromer and Sheringham with their sandy beaches are a must-see if travelling with children, but there are also quieter areas to explore such as West Runton and Overstrand. These are excellent to visit for a hassle-free experience, and you might even get the beach to yourself for some of the day!

Worthing is quiet and home to lots of self-catering accommodation available to rent. If you really need to wind down and not do very much on your break, then this is an ideal area for you and your loved ones. There are still day trips to be enjoyed but the actual village is peaceful, which is perfect if you want a bit of serenity in Norfolk.
