Glasgow is Scotland's second city after the capital Edinburgh. A former City of Culture, Glasgow is a jewel in Scotland's crown. Perhaps it is the influence of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a Glaswegian architect and desgner or the Glasgow Art School, creativity and art flourish in Glasgow. The city has the usual art galleries, museums and the very fine Burrell Collection and many smart stone tenement buildings that grace its older central streets. Many properties still feature original Victorian tiled lined entrance halls and lobbies. The university owns another collection of handsome buildings. At Glasgow's centre is an excellent shopping centre. There are botanical gardens and numerous very good restaurants. Glasgow is perfect for a holiday shopping, wining and dining with perhaps a day out to Loch Lomond and Stirling..Edinburgh is also within easy distance for a day trip.
It takes a little time spent with Glaswegians to fully appreciate Glasgow. The people have such a good sense of humour and bonhomie that it is impossible not to love Glasgow. Book a self-catering apartment in Glasgow or a cottage or log cabin with a short drive to get to know this wonderful Scottish city better.
