There are many different kinds of self-catering accommodation available to rent in Norfolk, from pine lodge cottages to apartments with swimming pools. Whether you are coming with a large family including the kids and dog, or just with your loved one, you will find a holiday home to suit your requirements on your break.
Located in the east of Norfolk lies the village of Ludham, set within The Broads National Park. It is also part of the Ludham Potter Heigham National Nature Reserve, an important wetland site and a lovely place to explore if renting accommodation nearby. A boating holiday on the Broads does not suit everyone, some people prefer to stay on dry land and to view the waterways from the bank. It is a beautiful area and there are some very attractive holiday lettings to rent for a week or a few days.
Set on the river, Ludham village is home to a friendly pub, the church of St Catherine, tea rooms and a gift shop. Worth a visit is the famous Hunters Boatyard which operates traditional Norfolk sailing yachts to this day, just using oil lamps. If you decide to hire a yacht here, you will feel like you have gone back in time as you experience authentic 1930s Broads sailing.
The village is also close to the small hamlet of Ludham Bridge on the River Ant where you can watch the boats navigate through the low bridge, and the Ludham Marshes, for those who enjoy a walk and good views of the countryside. It i also a popular haunt for anglers. Perhaps rent a cottage for a fishing holiday?
Although there is much to see and do in the area, if staying in Ludham, you might also want to do a few day trips to see other parts of Norfolk. The eastern coast is about twenty minutes away by car, and you can choose to visit the serene seaside villages of Waxham or Winterton-on-Sea, with their pristine sandy beaches. If travelling with children, they will love building sand castles here, or if you are visiting with your partner, you can relax and find a quiet spot to soak up the sun or go for a dip in the sea.
For something more bustling, the seaside resort of Great Yarmouth is about thirty minutes by car, and as well as its sandy beach, it has a large market place, a theme park, and endless shops, pubs and restaurants. Staying in Ludham is a great way to experience this thriving area without actually staying there, as you will be close by but can retreat back to your quiet village haven at the end of the day trip.
There are countless pretty cottages to rent in the area, some with a lot of character and featuring thatched roofs, and all located in this welcoming little settlement. They come with fully-equipped kitchens, comfortable bedrooms and living rooms with TVs, and you will come to feel like a local if you decide to rent a holiday cottage in the eastern Norfolk village of Ludham.
