California Beach is set at the bottom of low, sandy cliffs, and merges with its neighbouring beach of Scratby. You might opt for one on the cliff tops overlooking the sea, or perhaps a cottage further inland where you only have to take a short stroll to the beach. This part of the shoreland can be accessed via steep steps, unless you are walking from the nearby beach of Caister-on-Sea.
California is well situated to explore other beautiful parts of Norfolk. There are so many lovely sandy beaches along this part of the coastline, so you can use your holiday home as a base in which to discover other areas. Firstly, there is Great Yarmouth which is a large resort with countless things to see and do, especially the Pleasure Beach which is a theme park full of thrilling rides that the kids will love!
There is also a sandy beach north of California, Winterton-on-Sea, just a 9-minute drive along the coast and a stunning place to visit. Winterton-on-Sea is home to the Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve. Further afield, about a 40-minute drive, is Norfolk’s capital city of Norwich which also makes an interesting day trip.
