Slovakia lies to the south of Poland, both countries share the Tatra mountains and national park. Another unspoilt Eastern European country, Slovakia offers many similar tourist attractions to Poland; inexpensive skiing in highland areas during winter, wonderful hiking and climbing, quiet country roads for cycling, plus a selection of aquaparks and thermal pools.
The scenery in the north is magnificent, wonderful unspoilt walking country. There are numerous castles to admire, caves to explore and rivers to raft down. It's a great destination for walking groups and families who enjoy the great outdoors with occasional day trips to places of interest.
The capital city Bratislava is close to the Austrian and Hungarian borders. It has a castle overlooking the Danube, a Gothic cathedral that dates back to the 12th century and many other buildings of historic interest. Take a river boat ride, or Jewish history tour or visit the Jewish history museum and Slovak National Museum. Lots of interesting places to visit..
