Do try to book a seaside accommodation at Greatstone on Sea on Kent, especially if you live in southeast England and would like a few days break on the coast. Greatstone Beach is hugely underrated; a long triangle of pale yellow sand stretches to the north and south, to Littlestone and Lydd-on-Sea. The sands are backed by a natural area of shingle overgrown by vegetation. It’s simple and unspoilt – a very good destination for people who need dog-friendly accommodation because you can walk the dogs for miles along the Parade.
Dogs are permitted on the beach except from two sections, one of which begins at the Jolly Fisherman Pub. There are walks from Greatstone to the Dungeness Nature Reserve and you can walk for miles along the coast. Dogs always enjoy a splash about and the beach shelves gently into the sea. Acres of sand are exposed when the tide is out.
Greatstone on Sea could also be a good destination for hen and stag weekends. There are enough hostelries and eateries in town to keep a group of people fed, watered and entertained. There is also a hen and stag party shop to supply the necessary accessories.
