Cracow is the former capital of Poland, long before Warsaw. For this reason, Cracow has the royal palce on the Wawel hill and cathedral where many of Poland's kings are buried. Visitors can explore the history of Royal Cracow by following the tour which is displayed on information signs around the city.

There are similar tours for the Jewish Quarter, which used to be a separate town from Cracow, but has now been absorbed as a suburb as the population grew. There are several synagogues open to the public and a wealth of historical literature and photographs, especially from pre World War II.

Pope John Paul II was born in Wadowice, not far from Cracow, in the prophetic 7 Koscielna Street,  which means Church Street. A favoured son of Poland, there is now a tour in his honour.

Cracow is immensely popular for weekend breaks and short gourmet breaks. Enjoy eating fabulous food at a relatively low price washed down by vodka. There is a huge selection of restaurants and pubs which also makes it desirable for Stag nights and Hen parties. The antics of stags and hens frequently amuse passers by in the main square in Cracow.

Just outside Cracow, a 20 minute drive away, or even steam train ride, is the famous Salt Mine with miles of underground tunnels and amazing carvings.
