Pine lodge or country cottage near Bishop's Castle?

Renting a holiday cottage to make your own and enjoy home comforts is a wonderful way to spend some quality time with friends and family whilst at the same time exploring a different part of the UK such as Shropshire. There are so many kinds of accommodation available to rent, that you can choose one to suit whatever you are looking for on your break, pehaps a country cottage, a farmhouse or a log-cabin style holiday letting.

If you are visiting with a large group of fourteen people or more, then there are sprawling houses dotted all over Shropshire that might be perfect for you. There are also small cottages with private gardens and hot tubs for if you are celebrating something special with your loved ones. For something even more indulgent, you might opt for one with its own swimming pool. Whatever kind of accommodation you choose to rent, residing in the market town of Bishop’s Castle is a perfect place in which to stay to discover the delights of Shropshire.

Take a holiday in Bishop's Castle close to Wales

Bishop’s Castle can be found in the southwest of Shropshire and is very close to the border with Wales. If you love going on country walks around beautiful hills, then the town has plenty of walking paths in which to soak up some fresh country air. The Shropshire Way runs through the town itself, and Offa’s Dyke is also close by – both of these are excellent walking areas.

    A lovely place for a self-catered holiday

Other things to do in Bishop’s Castle include visiting the popular weekly market which dates back to the 13th century, or settle into one of the many cafés, coffee houses and restaurants that can be found in the town. There is also a couple of museums and some friendly pubs to pop into after a day of walking or cycling in the countryside.

If you fancy visiting another town in Shropshire, then birthplace of Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury, is just a 45-minute drive away from Bishop’s Castle. Shrewsbury is home to a castle, hundreds of listed buildings dating back to the 15th and 16th centuries, and has a bustling centre with museums, markets and a theatre to discover. It is set on the River Severn and is definitely worth visiting if you are coming to Shropshire.

Bishop’s Castle is a charming town that is wonderful for those who love the great outdoors and being surrounded by countryside. If you choose to rent a holiday cottage here, then you can use your accommodation as a base for country walks and to discover other parts of the county, plus the market town itself is friendly and full of things to do and places to eat.

    Stargazing at night

If the holiday home that you book is outside the village, expect to see stunning views of the stars at night. The advantage of rural areas such as Shropshire is the chance to enjoy some amazing stargazing.  Make sure that the cottage that you rent has a back garden and you will be able to sit under the stars at night, or perhaps lie down on a rug and watch the stars slowly pass overhead.
