A drying room is a blessing if you find yourself returning to a holiday cottage after a showery day in the Derbyshire Dales. Damp boots and clothing can be left to dry ready for the next day.
Derbyshire is much loved by holidaymakers who enjoy the great outdoors, rambling, cycling on its traffic free trails, visiting the country pubs and picturesque villages. Anyone who plans to spend a considerable amount of time outdoors, is going to get a bit wet sometimes a bit grubby, or even muddy. Most people do not plan to fall in the stream or skid on a bike but as any parent knows, children attract mud. Dealing with clothes and muddy boots is far easier in a holiday cottage than a hotel, especially if you rent one that also has washing and drying facilities. Tumble dryers beat drying rooms for light clothing, however, a drying room or the top of a radiator is best for boots and trainers.
Hiking groups in Derbyshire do things on a different scale. Not only are big holiday homes required but also a large expanse of drying areas for a collection of boots and coats. We wish that the sun always shone in Derbyshire but then it wouldn’t be so luxuriant and green.
It can be good to alternate active days out with a little light entertainment, a visit to caverns, shopping or a tourist attraction. The friendly county, home to the Peak District National Park, offers a wide choice of places to visit in between days out cycling and walking. An enjoyable holiday is guaranteed but do come prepared for all seasons.
