Lying to the west of the Pennines, The Lake District is arguably one of the most beautiful parts of the country. With Craggy Fells and peaceful lakes it is alive with the beauty that inspired William Wordsworth and the childrens writer Beatrix Potter, who both made their homes here. The Lake District National Park is the Largest in England and the second largest in the whole United Kingdom and is centered on the busy resort town of Ambleside, crowded with walkers and teashops.
The Lake District offers a host of things to see and do. Popular with families, walkers, hikers and climbers, the scenery is simply breathtaking. Along its western edge rivers flow down from the fells to the sea, their banks dotted with the remains of ancient castles and monasteries. Ride the century old miniature railway from the seafaring town of Ravenscroft, with its 4 acre Roman fort, for 7 miles up to the top of scenic Eskdale. Whatever you decide to do on your 2 day short break in the Lake District, you are certain to return home vowing to revisit this beautiful unspoilt National Park.
The Lake District is renowned for its scenery, but for those of us who enjoy beautiful things around us, the following cottages in the Lake District all have either beautiful decor or something of beauty to offer to differentiate them from the rest.
