Auchterarder is a small town located north of the Ochil Hills in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, and home to the famous Gleneagles Hotel and Championship Golf Course. The 1.5 mile long High Street of Auchterarder gave the town its popular name of "Lang Toon". Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour's drive making it an excellent central location for touring Scotland. The countryside round about is particularly attractive with many things to see and spectacular wildlife. History addicts will also be enthralled by this area with its Pictish forts, Roman roads, Celtic chapels and Benedictine abbeys. Literature lovers will be fascinated by Innerpeffray library, the oldest surviving public library in Scotland.
Like Auchterarder itself and Aberuthven (a small village to the East), Blackford has a peaceful timeless quality. Lying at the foot of the Ochill Hills, the quality of its water has been famous for centuries. Today, water from this source (Highland Spring & Gleneagles Spring Water) is bottled at two plants and is sold internationally. Blackford is also home to Tullibardine Distillery, with its excellent visitor centre and tours
