The county borough of Newport lies on the far south east border of Wales with England. It's a pleasant green county with rolling hills and small villages.
The newest city in Wales; Newport, is often described as the Gateway to Wales, although this term is also applied to Abergavenny. We can safely assume that there are several ways to get to Wales from England.
Golfers will probably be aware that there is a wonderful complex of golf courses in Newport called the Celtic Manor Resort which hosts the Ryder Cup in 2010, plus tens more in the surrounding areas.
