Croatia is on the Adriatic in central Europe and as such, a perfect beach holiday destination. A former Yugoslavian country it has miles of beautiful coastline with beaches, cliffs and reefs. Most people will remember the picturesque 13th century old town of Dubrovnik with its narrow streets, ancient churches, squares and old town port.
The Croatian coastline is peppered with hundreds of small islands of which only tens are inhabited. Take a boat trip to an island on one of the many sunny days, each is famed for different things; Mljet for a gorgeous national park, the Brijuni Islands for yet another national park or the island of Pag for sheep's cheese and lace.
As in most European countries, the hottest and most expensive months to visit are July and August when demand is the highest. Visit in May, June, September and October for pleasant weather and much lower prices unless your main purpose is a beach holiday in Croatia on the Adriatic.
