Self-catering accommodation shown will be either in Nether Stowey or within a seven mile radius. Nether Stowey is a fairly large village which goes back in history. There is a a mound there on which a castle once stood, which is reached by climbing the narrow lane of Castle Hill. The views of the Somerset Countryside from the top are worth the effort of getting there.  Other streets in the village also tell of previous occupants: Mill Lane, Butcher's Lane, Meadow Close. This was once a hamlet in a farming community and there is evidence to spot as you explore the village. You may be fortunate enough to be able to rent a thatched cottage on Castle Hill or a farmhouse in the surrounding countryside. Nether Stowy is a good place for a cottage holiday in the country, the village can provide basic essentials and pub nights out, the Quantock Hills are within walking distance. This would be the perfect destination for a couple with dogs; so many walks in all directions.
