The Isle of Wight is a peaceful and quiet place to visit, boasting amazing landscapes, breathtaking coastlines, sandy beaches and extraordinary weather (especially on the south coast) the Isle of Wight has a lot to offer a self-catering cottage holiday. Some main attractions include, Alum bay where you can visit the needle rocks and lighthouse on the west of the island, there is also Blackgang Chine which is a very popular theme park centred around the old smuggling that used to happen on the Isle of Wight. There is also Butterfly and Fountain world, Amazon World, Owl and Monkey Haven, Osbourne house, Roman Villas and many walks and trails. With so much to see and do you wont even have time to appreciate the stunning golden sand beaches and amazing cliff top views that the Island has to offer. Some of the weather condtions on the 'back of the wight' should truly be appreciated, with a micro mediteranean climate there are plenty of exotic plants and flowers to explore in the beautiful gardens of Ventnor and St Lawrence.
The Isle of Wight also has a very interesting history to be explored including the discovery of the Island's largest dinosaur in 1992. The island is famous for its large amount of fossil discoveries and you can visit several dinosaur related attractions on your trip. It also has a fantastic Victorian and Roman history with much architecture to get stuck into with the whole family.
