Alverstone is a small village about 3 kilometres from the East coast of the Isle of Wight, close by to Sandown. It contains Alverstone Mead which is a beautiful area situated on the Newport Cycleway and positioned on the old floodplain of the Yar river which is now a canal. There are many different habitats in the area to explore such as marshland, grassland, hay meadows and open water. Being so close to Sandown enables fantastic access to its huge sandy beaches which offer safe bathing, there is also a pier and much to entertain the family with amusements, restaurants and cafes.
