Charlbury could be an ideal location for an Oxfordshire cottage holiday. Located around 15 miles north west of Oxford in the beautiful Evenlode Valley around mid-way between the towns of Woodstock and Chipping Norton, this is a great position for discovering some of the highlights of Oxfordshire. The town was made prosperous during the 18th century thanks to its glove making industry. Charlbury has a number of small shops including a small supermarket, as well as four pubs and a café. The small green, known as Playing Close, has a series of attractive cottages looking across to a little neo-Jacobean drinking fountain. Charlbury also has a recently renovated town museum in Market Street, open mainly at weekends, exhibiting the traditional crafts and industries of the town.
