Self-catering accommodation including coastal and fishermen's cottages or cottages near places for sea, river or loch fishing.
The beautiful county of Moray lies hidden from the main Scottish tourist route, in the north-east of Scotland and is ideally situated in the sheltered Moray firth area between the mountains of the Highlands of Scotland in the west and the Grampians in the east.
Moray has much to offer on your self catering holiday or short break, due to its situation between the Cairngorm mountains in the south, and the beautiful sandy coastline of the Moray Firth in the north. Moray benefits from an abundance of long stretches of unspoiled golden beaches, dotted by picturesque fishing villages along the coast. There is a large population of interesting wildlife including bottlenose dolphins which can be viewed from shore or by boat.
Among the premier fishing spots in this location is The River Spey, one of the “big four” Scottish salmon rivers and the Gordon Castle beats are amongst the most famous in the World. Spread over 8 miles, its 8 beats of double bank salmon fishing are together probably the largest prolific salmon fishery in Britain. Each beat has its own ghillie and is fished by between three and six rods, with most beats being for six rods. Fishing is with fly only, and a largely catch and release policy for salmon and sea trout is in force. The Estate has a variety of fishing available throughout the year, which varies in price depending on the time of year.
The owners of your self-catering accommodation will be able to advise you about suitable places to fish. Please use the Feature Pages menu to find other locations and accommodation for your fishing holiday.
