Nottinghamshire is a county in the East Midlands. Its principal city is Nottingham – a lively destination for hen weekends and stag breaks. There are numerous attractions, swish bars and restaurants where to celebrate in style.
Dotted about its landscape are small market towns and pleasant villages surrounded by farmland and woodland. There are numerous holiday homes to rent that sleep couples in small cottages or apartments, family holiday accommodation and pine lodges set in the countryside.
Although not entirely flat, the gentle rises in the landscape still allow for pleasant cycling. There is an extensive cycle path network in Nottinghamshire that allows for off-road family cycling. Much of Nottinghamshire was former mining country and although the mines have long gone, the mining villages remain. Some of the properties have been converted into self-catering accommodation and can be rented by the week or for short breaks.
The large expanse of Sherwood Forest has long been a major Nottinghamshire attraction. Holidaymakers come to enjoy woodland walks, Go Ape or to rent pine lodges in a tranquil rural area that has plenty of outdoor activities nearby. There is a watersports centre near Nottingham, plenty of golf, horse riding stables and plenty more outdoor activities to keep a young family busy throughout a self-catering holiday.
